Once created out of necessity to keep out the cold and damp, carpets eventually came to signify wealth and adorned the buildings of royalty and the rich.

Carpet designs tended to reflect the history and culture of the region they were created in. Again. both of these designs originate from Iran but the designs are of a geometric nature, rather than Intricate and delicate.

The Bokahara carpets in particular tend to have a predominantly deep red background with the patterns repeated In dark blues, cream and black.
