Bahrain Restaurants, Eating out in Bahrain
Bahrain Restaurants offer a huge selection of cuisine. From Major fast food chains such as Mac Donalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken & Pizza Hut to thematic styled luxury restaurants. When you eat out in Bahrain you will not be disappointed by the choice and quality of food that is on offer. Being that Bahrain is a mainly Muslim country, Arabic & Eastern foods are readily available with the local restaurants offering great value on regional dishes.
Hot Tip
I would strongly recommend trying one of the fruit cocktail drinks that can be purchased from many of the takeaways and small restaurants; not only does it taste amazing but it is also healthy to!
Most of the major restaurants offer entertainment in the form of singers & dancers or thematic nights where the food will be from a particular region or country. On these nights you get quite a lively atmosphere, particularly at the weekend and if you are prepared to join in then you can find yourself singing in front of the whole restaurant or learning how to Belly Dance!
Fish has always been an important item in the Bahraini diet and there are various fish and seafood restaurants offering local caught fresh fish, prawns and crabs. As with virtually everywhere in the world Bahrain offers European, Chinese restaurants, International, Mediterranean and a number of Thai restaurants. There is also authentic Pakistani and Indian food available, with a variety of dishes from various regions of the Far East & India. These restaurants usually have a good selection of vegetarian dishes, and there is at least one exclusively vegetarian Indian restaurant.
It may come as a surprise for first-time visitors to Bahrain to find Eastern, Japanese, Tex-Mex and Eurasian restaurants in Bahrain.
Traditional tea and coffeehouses in the souq and the parks serve Turkish-style coffee (Superb for those late nights) and tea, plus there are a number of European type cafes offering tea, coffee, cakes, pastries, soft drinks and ice-creams.
Pork is never eaten as it is prohibited by Islam, and beef does not feature in traditional dishes either. However if you eat at some of the restaurants owned by foreign nationals you can still find a full English Breakfast.
Not all restaurants will offer Alcohol as the consumption of alcohol in Bahrain is strictly controlled and not encouraged. So if you want to have a drink then phone up and check that the restaurant offers alcoholic beverages.
Chefs Corner Tempting Middle East dishes for you to make.
