November 7, 2007 - UAE EDUCATION MINISTRY SIGNS THREE-YEAR MOU AS GESS SUPPORTER
The UAE’s Ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E) - the Middle East’s trade show pioneer – to support its recently-launched Gulf Educational Supplies Show (GESS), the region’s premier educational, supplies and solutions event. Virginia Kern, Chairman of Fairs & Exhibitions and Mohammed Juma Bin Hindi, Under-secretary of the UAE Ministry of Education signed the agreement in the presence of the ministry’s Director for Policy and Planning Department, Dr. Abdalla Al Amiri. To be held from 22nd – 24th January 2008 at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah, GESS will bring the latest international education products and methodologies to local and regional education professionals as the Gulf’s education sector undergoes substantial re-engineering. November 6, 2007 - US Commerce Department Honours UAE Military Works Directorate for Pioneering District Cooling Use.
The United State Department of Commerce has honoured the UAE Military Works Directorate (DMW) for pioneering the use of district cooling technology in the Middle East to meet its requirements. The award was presented at the District Cooling Symposium organised by the Middle East Chapter of the US-based International District Energy Association (IDEA) held in Dubai. IDEA works to advance global environmental quality through efficient district energy systems.

October 21, 2007: Longenecker & Associates and Lion Associates LLC have been appointed by Powered Corporation as its first key advisors in the implementation of Powered’s agreement with the Yemeni Government to build power plants to generate electricity and desalination water using nuclear energy. In addition, Powered Corporation appointed Andrews Kurth LLP as legal counsel for the company. Longenecker & Associates is a consulting firm that provides specialized, technical and management support to the nuclear and environmental industries.
