Nissan in Bahrain & the Middle East.

Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima 3.5 SE is considered one of the most powerful front-wheel drive Japanese sedans in the Middle East car market, which is not just a manufacturer claim but is echoed by drivers too.

The 3.5-litre Altima, mated to an optional manual transmission, produces an unprecedented 257bhp at 6,000rpm and 37kg of torque at 4,800rpm. The car’s V6 engine is based on the award-winning Nissan VQ engine which also features in the Nissan Maxima, Murano and the sporty 350Z.

The sporty executive comes with 6-speed manual transmission equipped with Traction Control and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution which provide increased control and better handling. ABS and power assisted 4-wheel disc brakes come standard, as well dual-stage supplemental airbags with seat belt pre-tensioners and zone-body construction for maximum passenger safety.

In August this year, Nissan embarked on a 24-hour endurance drive carried out under FIA regulations to prove the reliability of the New Altima. The cars used were production vehicles straight from a Nissan showroom without any technical modifications. And the Altima stood the test quite brilliantly, marking the first time in the region that a 24-hour endurance record has been set by an un-modified production sedan running under FIA regulations.

But what makes the test even more unique was the fact that the company ran both V6s, the 3.5L and the 2.5L, in parallel at the Dubai Autodrome, driving both cars around the circuit for 24-hours without engine stops, during the hottest month of the year.

It’s no shock then that the Altima, since entering the market in 2004, has been a runaway success particularly among drivers already accustomed to the wiles of the Maxima.
