Internet Shopping made easy & Shopping in Bahrain

Shopping online doesn't have to be a hassle. Check out the huge array of goods available online from reputable shops.

The Internet has allowed individuals and companies to market their goods & services to a world audience at a fraction of the costs associated with conventional marketing. As a result you can now buy almost any thing from the Internet as individuals & corporations take advantage of this fantastic marketing tool.

Over the last few years Internet shopping has really taken off in the Western world and is now one of the fastest growing areas in retail marketing with almost all the major department stores offering their goods online.

The Internet is still relatively new to the Middle East and as a result there are far fewer Internet stores selling Middle East goods, although this is changing from day to day and I am glad to see that Arabic businesses are slowly waking up to the power of Internet shopping.

The problem with Internet shopping is that you have no idea when you visit a website, whether you are dealing with a genuine business or an individual who is trying to obtain you credit card details for fraudulent use. However by taking a few simple steps you can weed out the dodgy sites and find shopping on the internet easy, safe and fun to do as you can find products that would not previously be available unless you visited the store and that could be outer Kathmandu!

Tips for safe shopping online :-

If you find a bargain on the net that is too good to be true then it probably is too good to be true! - A typical example of this will be the latest laptop computer offered for less then half price as compared to conventional retail stores. Before you go ahead and buy your fantastic bargain ask your self these simple questions:-

Make sure your computer is free from viruses! If you are not running the latest antivirus software then don't even consider buying online. I would also recommend using a firewall. This is a piece of software that blocks other people on the web from accessing your computer and also hides you from others on the web. A great free firewall is zonealarm. Download the software and follow the instructions.

Who are they? - Do some research, put the company name into a search engine (www.Google.com) and see what comes back. This can be a great method for weeding out the bad ones as you can be sure that if someone out there has had a bad experience, they will have written about it. If you get nothing back then beware as this means that the company is new.

Have they got an actual shop? Check their contact details for an actual trading address and contact phone. Phone them to confirm the telephone number works. If you can only contact them via email then buyer beware! If something goes wrong then where do you go. An email address has no location and so you can end up out of pocket, very frustrated and shouting at blank wall.

Have you heard of them before? If you found a great site then so will others, check up on them and do your research.

Do you know any one who has bought of them? The best kind of shopping is recommended shopping from someone you know. If they bought online and the transaction went well then there is a good chance that yours will as well.

What method of payment do they accept? If they do not offer SECURE on line payments then leave them alone. It is now possible for a business no matter how small to offer secure online payments via a third party such as PayPal.com. These companies specialize in secure payment processing and offer you full consumer protection no matter where you are in the world. So if a purchase does not go to plan, you have a good chance of getting a full refund. Help on secure payments.

Do not pay by Western Union money transfers or similar services - These methods offer no protection and allow the seller to cash your payment any where in the world. This is the most commonly used method of defrauding people on the web and EBay have had big problems with sellers offering this method. It normally always ends up as a fraudulent transaction and once you have sent the money, the chances are you will never see your money or you goods again!

Never give out your credit / debit card security pin number! or bank security details! If you are asked for this information then run a mile! 99.99% of the time this will be a scam. This information is never required for purchasing goods online.

If you are thinking about buying from the net on a regular basis then set up another credit card specially for this purpose with a small credit limit. Then if it all goes wrong you do not have the nightmare of sorting out your main account and it allows you to control your spending when on the net.
