The Better Box
The Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder rekindles the glamour of the '60s!
Porsche AG Stuttgart presented a new Limited Edition version of the mid-engine Boxster sports car at the Bologna Motor Show in early December. It is the latest model in a line that began with class champion and Sebring race winner, the Porsche Type 718 RS6O Spyder.
Now, the new Boxster RS6O Spyder is taking the momentum and purism of that so successful mid-engine two-seater racing car.
The front end of this special model distinguishes the RS6O Spyder significantly from the previous Boxster S. The modified exhaust system which is a sports exhaust combined with a dual tailpipe, increases engine output to 303bhp. Spacer plates move the 1 9inch wheels into an even more prominent position in the wheel arches. Likewise the standard fit Porsche Active Suspension Management system ensures that driving is both sporting and comfortable.
Keeping it classic, the RS6O comes in metallic GT silver with a natural leather interior in Carrera red. If red is not to your liking, go for the dark grey natural leather option. Open the car door - trimmed with stainless steel trips proudly bearing the RS6O Spyders’ model designation - and enter a world of specially grooved sports
seats in which sophisticated sportsmanship is stamped on everything from the door lining, to the steering wheel rim and even the handbrake lever.
Inside the cockpit, the design of the instrument clusters, finished in metallic GT silver, includes a large central rev counter and two circular dials either side - a pure racing car. The obsession with details extends to the windscreen frame that is finished in black and red rear light clusters, as well as the centre console. The rear sections of the seat backrests and roll-bars are finished in GT silver metallic. In honour of the line’s early beginnings in 1960, the new Boxster RS6O Spyder is limited to a special edition of only 1,960 units that bear a silver coloured placard on the lid of the glove compartment.
The car will be available in the Middle East region in March 2008. For further details contact Behbehani Brothers - Porsche Centre Bahrain on Tel. +973 17459911. (Don't forget to tell them that you found their details on Newarabia.net.
